Genevieve Bennett

Senior Strategic Advisor

Genevieve Bennett is a strategic advisor to Forest Trends, guiding work on nature finance, natural capital strategies, carbon and biodiversity markets, and strategic communications. Genevieve has fifteen years of experience in environmental markets and finance, including authoring the first comprehensive global market assessments of nature-based water sector investments and biodiversity credits and as a founding advisor on the world’s first nature-based startup accelerator. In addition to her work with Forest Trends she is a regular correspondent for Impact Entrepreneur and a Board-level advisor on several social enterprises focused on regenerative agriculture and building market channels/consumer demand for bioregional food systems. She has written extensively for a range of trade and academic publications including Nature, the World Economic Forum, and Environmental Finance. She holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA from New York University.

Eszter Bodnar

Acting DirectorCommunications and Marketing

Eszter serves as Acting Director of Communications and Marketing at Forest Trends. In this role, she works across communications, development, and program teams to shape and implement organizational strategy. She oversees media outreach and engagement, stakeholder communications, publication pipelines, brand stewardship, and social media, and leads participation in events and conferences. She also directs the production of Forest Trends’ annual impact reports and leads a partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to develop innovative models for cross-sector collaboration on large-scale restoration of national forests.

Eszter brings over 20 years of experience spanning strategic communications, graphic design, environmental science, and public policy. She trained as a graphic designer in her native Budapest, Hungary, and holds a second degree in environmental biology from University College London (UCL). Prior to joining Forest Trends as staff, she worked with the organization for over 14 years as a consultant. She has also held roles with Climate Focus and World Forest ID, and has supported over two dozen environmental organizations—including the World Bank, The Nature Conservancy, WRI, WWF, and VERRA—as a communications and design consultant. Eszter is based in Boulder, Colorado.

Aubrey Peterson

Senior ManagerCommunications

Aubrey is the Senior Communications Manager at Forest Trends. In this role, she develops strategic communications plans, oversees engaging content creation, and elevates our team’s findings across diverse media platforms.

Aubrey has over ten years of communications experience in the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. From her time as a Fulbright Scholar in Vietnam to her grant management work at an international development firm, she values connecting stakeholders with the proper tools to effectively share their work. In her spare time, Aubrey enjoys hiking, cooking, and improv comedy. She holds an MA in International Affairs from American University and a double BA in Communications and History from Wake Forest University.
