View PublicationThe net loggable volume data set out in the Draft Forest Management Agreement has been significantly overstated. The estimated sustainable annual cut is insufficient to support a conventional stand-alone log export project. Whilst the Review Team supports the concept of providing existing domestic processing facilities with resource security, instruments such as the so called Morobe South Coast Project Agreement are not considered appropriate for this purpose due to the inconsistencies that arise with the processes under the Forestry Act.
