This study is one of several country-level market assessments that analyze the scope of opportunities for community forest enterprises to participate effectively in forest sector markets. As part of its global analytical program, Forest Trends and its international partners have identified a new forest agenda which seeks to make markets work for low-income producers and to help forest dwellers to achieve the three seemingly contradictory goals of conserving forests, meeting fast-growing market demand and promoting sustainable development to reduce rural poverty.
This paper focuses on the issue of sawnwood production chains. It describes market access barriers for Mexican sawnwood which requires the analysis of all previous stages in the production process.
