Launch of the Yawanawa Life Plan in Acre, Brazil

Forest Trends’ Communities Initiative is excited to join the Yawanawa people of Acre, Brazil as they celebrate the launch of their Life Plan. The event will take place in the village of São Vicente, Tarauacá-Acre on April 3rd at 16:30 ACT.
The Yawanawa Life Plan establishes how land should be managed in order to preserve their forests and the communities’ good living, and sets out plans for the future. This book also details several years of the Yawanawa history — how they have organized and developed — and describes successful initiatives and lessons learned.

The launch of Yawanawa Life Plan will be celebrated along with the inauguration of the Ceremonial Center Tuinkuru, a recently built community center, which will be used as a meeting place for all of the Yawanawa and Katukina villages located upstream, and will serve for cultural exchanges and other gatherings.
The launch of Yawanawa Life Plan is one of the two events taking place in the state of Acre from April 3 to 8. The week brings together three peoples: the Suruí, Yawanawa, and Ashaninka. Planned activities include bringing together women artisans to reflect on their role in society, a discussion about agroforestry techniques with young people and adults, and cultural exchanges between the three communities.

O Plano de Vida Yawanawa estabelece a forma como eles fazem a gestão territorial de suas terras, ao conservar suas florestas e cuidar do bem viver de sua população, e estabelece os planos para o futuro. Este livro registra também vários anos da história Yawanawa na sua organização e desenvolvimento, com iniciativas de sucesso e lições aprendidas.
O Lançamento do Plano de Vida Yawanawa faz parte das comemorações da inauguração do Centro Cerimonial Tuinkuru, um novo centro comunitário recém construído, que será utilizado para atender a todas as aldeias Yawanawa e Katukina rio acima, para reuniões comunitárias, intercâmbios culturais e outros encontros.
O Lançamento do Plano de Vida Yawanawa é um dos eventos que acontecem no Estado do Acre entre os dias 03 e 08 de abril, quando está prevista uma agenda de intercâmbios com a reunião de três povos: Suruí, Yawanawa e Ashaninka. As atividades preveem dinâmicas com trocas de experiências entre mulheres, sobre o artesanato e reflexões sobre seu papel na sociedade, técnicas aplicadas para sistemas agroflorestais com jovens e adultos e intercâmbios culturais entre os três povos.
