Proposed to Take Place on, or which are Likely to Impact on, Sacred Sites and on Lands and Waters Traditionally Occupied or Used by Indigenous and Local Communities were developed pursuant to task 9 of the programme of work on Article 8(j) and related provisions adopted by the Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity at its fifth meeting, in May 2000. The programme of work was, itself, adopted on the basis of recommendations from the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Article 8(j) and Related Provisions established at the fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, in 1998.
