Nicia Coutinho is an economist with over 18 years’ experience in managing and implementing projects in the Brazilian Amazon, with a focus on sustainable community development and strengthening territorial economies. Her work centers on developing and analyzing diagnoses and business plans for local production chains, such as fishing, timber and non-timber forest products, and family farming, while applying participatory methodologies to promote economic and social development in traditional communities, particularly in Conservation Units and Indigenous Lands.
Based in Brasília, Nicia is the President of the Center for Socioeconomic and Environmental Management and Innovation (Greendata), Forest Trends’ operational partner in Brazil, and a partner at Harmonia Consultoria Ambiental. She serves as Senior Country Lead of Forest Trends’ projects in Brazil and leads Greendata’s initiatives in technical and economic studies, territorial diagnostics, capacity building, and the implementation of programs focused on sustainable development.
