Pronatura Noroeste focuses on the eco-regions of the Baja California Peninsula, Sonora, Sinaloa and Nayarit, the coasts of Jalisco and Colima southwest of the Neo-volcanic Transversal Axis, the western regions of Chihuahua, Durango and Jalisco along the Western Sierra Madre, the Gulf of California and its islands, and Mexico’s designated economic zone and archipelagos in the Pacific Ocean that correspond to the above-mentioned states. Pronatura Noroeste’s mission, shared with all the representatives of the Pronatura National System, is: The conservation of the flora, fauna and priority ecosystems of Northwest Mexico to promote the development of society in harmony with Nature. It meets this mandate by means of 11 regional programs, with conservation goals and objectives common to the whole Northwest Mexico and by sharing experiences, technical and human resources among its various offices regarding the design, financing and implementation of its projects.

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is Switzerland’s international cooperation agency within the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). In operating with other federal offices concerned, SDC is responsible for the overall coordination of development activities and cooperation with Eastern Europe, as well as for the humanitarian aid delivered by the Swiss Confederation. The goal of development cooperation is that of reducing poverty. It is meant to foster economic self-reliance and state autonomy, to contribute to the improvement of production conditions, to help in finding solutions to environmental problems, and to provide better access to education and basic healthcare services.
