BBOP is pleased to present the results of its first phase of work (2004 – 2008). The Overview document below with its principles on biodiversity offsets and accompanying supporting materials have been prepared to help developers, conservation groups, communities, governments and financial institutions that wish to consider and develop best practice related to biodiversity offsets. The principles on biodiversity offsets are supported unanimously by the 40 member organizations of the BBOP Advisory Committee.
Additional interim guidance on the design and implementation of offsets comes in the form of Handbooks; resource papers on integrating offsets with impact assessment, and best practices in stakeholder participation; case studies from the BBOP pilots and other compensatory conservation experiences; and a glossary of terms.
