The Katoomba Group » Tropical America

Rubber TappingThe Tropical America Katoomba Group (TAKG) was officially launched in April 2006 in Quito, Ecuador. Its mission is to strengthen regional capacity for PES and facilitate ecosystem services transactions throughout Latin America.   TAKG works to facilitate collaboration for the development of institutions and policies required to establish and develop payment and market systems for ecosystem services. TAKG focuses on developing the capacity of project developers, local organizations and policymakers to facilitate PES transactions and their necessary supporting frameworks.  This is accomplished by developing regional PES knowledge and capacity through training sessions; the creation of tools, guidelines, and methodologies; and collaboration between network partners on a regional and international basis.  TAKG partners include NGO’s, governments, and individual stakeholders, as well as  PES experts.
